So, I fell off of the blogging wagon for a bit. I had a lot of stuff going on, both personally and professionally, and didn’t really want to write. I want my blog to be organic and natural so that it truly reflects me both as a writer and who I am as a person, so since I didn’t want to write, I didn’t force it. I am in a better place currently– the personal stuff is working itself out, and I have a few leads on exciting new career opportunities.
Travel: I did two trips to Charlottesville for job interviews for a position that I ultimately did not get. It was a little stressful being on the road so much in a short period of time, but I enjoyed getting to know Charlottesville. Last weekend I went to New York with my boyfriend to visit his brother. I have always loved New York and it was a nice treat since the weather was finally feeling like spring weather. I may write about these trips in more detail at some point but I wanted to provide a little snippet of what I have been doing travel-wise.
Family life: My dad came home from a 3 week trip to Cuba and was feeling a bit under the weather. He’s feeling better now but it’s always stressful when someone you care about isn’t feeling well. I got to spend some time with Elijah, and I swear, I adore that child more each time I see him. We celebrated Greek Easter with lamb, and spent a lot of time with my parents.
Career: After the Charlottesville job didn’t work out, I kind of went back to the drawing board in terms of what jobs I want to look for. I am currently applying for some legal jobs, and some more communications and events oriented positions. I’m not sure which, if any of them will pan out, but interviewing is always a learning experience.
Fitness: This is the only part of my life that hasn’t been stressful. I have stayed on track with my workout program and am done with Day 25 of the 80 Day Program. My eating could be better, but because I like to go out and try new restaurants, I have to be able to be flexible enough to allow for the things I like, and still stay on track. Phase two of my program starts on Sunday so I plan to try to dial my nutrition in even more for the remainder of the program. I’m slowly losing weight and inches, and I am having fun with it. I’m also helping others develop their own plans for fitness and that has been extremely gratifying for me.
Barrett: Barrett is a joy, as always, but as if my dad’s medical issues weren’t stressful enough, poor baby Bear was sick two weeks ago and had to take a trip to the emergency room. I will definitely elaborate on this in an upcoming post because it was my first experience with Emergency Pet Medical Care. Thankfully, he’s back to normal and causing trouble!
Thanks for sticking with me through my hiatus, and I hope to be back to regular posting now that things have calmed down a bit!
